Allied Health Professions Week was celebrated nationally November 2-8, 2008 to honor health care providers working in the more than 200 unique allied health professions. Allied health practitioners greatly influence health care delivery by supporting, facilitating, and complementing the roles of physicians and other health care specialists. This collaboration, which emphasizes the strengths of all health professions, is enhancing the quality of care in this country and abroad.
Take this opportunity to congratulate and thank all allied health professionals in your community who are instrumental in maintaining your high standard of health care and responding to your health care needs. And take a minute now to learn more about allied health professions by reviewing the following websites:

On the morning of October 15, 2009, the residents of the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House(RMH) experienced Christmas. A group of five SAHP staff members delivered a generous amount of donated goods from SAHP faculty & staff, the LLU Dental School, and Whole Foods. The RMH always has needs, but especially during August, September and October when they begin running out of supplies. The School of Dentistry donated 50 dental kits (toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss), and Whole Foods donated five cases of travel-sized shampoos, conditioners and lotions. Other donations included: paper products, laundry products, pantry items (instant oatmeal, dry cereals, hot chocolate and cider mixes, granola bars, coffee/creamers), beanie babies for the children, envelopes, light bulbs, and baby products. During the October meeting of the Staff Forum, volunteers decorated 50 brown gift bags and filled them with toiletry items.
The RMH staff and volunteers welcomed those who delivered the goodies (Barbara Parton and Melody Chambers, Co-leaders of the SAHP Staff Forum, along with Margie Martinez, Madge Oh and Jodee Nichols) and then took them on a tour of the house. " They shared some poignant stories with us about some of their residents and the obstacles they deal with," said Melody Chambers. "We all left RMH on a natural high knowing that we provided necessary items to residents of the house."
The program has since helped several individual families during the holidays locally in both 2010 and 2011.
