Emergency medical services (EMS) has grown and developed considerably over the last 40 years. Today, our changing health-care environment demands that EMS professionals provide better solutions to complex problems in patient care and EMS system design. Loma Linda University and other leading universities throughout our nation have responded to this challenge by offering bachelor's degrees specific to the EMS discipline. Graduates of these programs represent the best in EMS.
You will find that the curriculum at Loma Linda University is unique among EMS bachelor degree programs. From the time the Emergency Medical Care Program accepted its first class in 1993, we have continually updated and improved our coursework to meet the changes in health care and the needs of our students. The curriculum not only focuses on knowledge in clinical care but also encompasses critical skills in leadership, management, communication, education, and research. Our program is designed for existing health-care providers--EMTs, paramedics, nurses, and respiratory therapists--with our classes scheduled on one day of the week to accommodate those who are working professionals.
The decision to pursue a bachelor's degree is a significant milestone in life; it represents a commitment to learning, hard work, and often personal sacrifices. A bachelor's degree also represents a noteworthy achievement and is often the key to unlocking new personal and professional opportunities.
Graduates of the Emergency Medical Care Bachelor's Degree Program have moved into positions of influence as clinical supervisors, training managers, and health-care administrators and are helping to define the future of EMS. Others have successfully progressed onto graduate, physician assistant, and medical school. We invite you to contact us to discuss what a bachelor of science in emergency medical care can do for you.
