Meet Gabriel
SAHP Degree: Physical Therapy Assistant
Class of 2011
Hometown: Empalme Sonora Mexico
Where did you complete your prerequisites?
Pacific Union College
Why did you choose to attend the School of Allied Health Professions at Loma Linda University?
I decided to have a Christian education and Loma Linda was at the top of my list. I chose SAHP because I want to be able to practice Physical Therapy and I was accepted in the program.
How is LLU preparing you for your chosen health care profession?
I believe that Loma Linda University and my specific program are confirming and reinforcing my belief system on the different aspects of my life. I am excited to be able to share and put to practice all the knowledge that I am receiving.
What are your plans for after graduation?
My plan is to complete the PTA program and get my license, then work for eigth months and continue in the DPT program and if God gives me the opportunity, have my own private practice.
What activities do you participate in outside of class on or off campus.
I really enjoy the Drayson Center, where I exercise regularly, especially volleyball and the weight room. Aside from the school activities, I attend to the Loma Linda Spanish Church where we have a project of restoring and converting the old Gentry gym into the new church.
What advice do you have for new students?
I would encourage everybody interested on ANY of the fields of health to come to Loma Linda University. Here I have found many friends and people from different countries who help me be aware of the differences that I will be faced with once in the work field.
What has been your favorite course you have taken so far and why?
Anatomy class. The opportunity to be able to work and learn on cadavers was unbelievable and the teacher most excellent!
