General education requirements should be completed prior to entering the program. Students are expected to be within twelve (12) quarter units of meeting the general education requirements prior to acceptance. Statistics and Research Methods (within the last five years) are two required courses for acceptance into the BSRS program.
The Bachelor of Science in Radiation Science degree is an online degree program that starts a new session each summer. The BSRS core program is four quarters in length. Students who are interested in completing the area of emphasis in Administration and Education or Imaging Informatics can do so concurrently. This can be completed within a one-year time frame.
Students may complete the bachelor's core requirements prior to completion of the clinical area of emphasis. Students may also choose to complete the core class work after completing the clinical area of emphasis. Acceptance into one of the clinical specialty areas is separate from acceptance into the BSRS core program.
Once students complete the BSRS core, specialty classes (area of emphasis), and have completed ALL GE requirements they will be able to participate in the next graduation ceremony, which is held every year in June.
The online BSRS program starts twice a year in the summer and winter quarters and the On Campus program begins Fall quarter. Applications are accepted for Summer, November 1 through March 1 For Fall March 1 to July 1; and Winter: April 1 to Nov 1.
The applicant must have certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or its equivalent. Applicants who are eligible to take the ARRT examination for certification but who have not had the opportunity to do so are given provisional status for one quarter in order to give time to take the exam. The University will not sign or verify registry documents of students who obtained their training from another program.
Acceptance into the BSRS program is contingent on completion of an accredited associate's degree (or equivalent) in medical radiography.
Students should not expect admission into the BS program if their cumulative grade point average is below 2.5. (Science and non-science subjects are computed separately.)
A maximum of 70 semester or 105 quarter units from an accredited junior college will be accepted, including units for clinical training. Students who have completed a hospital training program are allowed up to 55 units of academic credit on the basis of their registry certificate.
Be sure that your application is complete, including your statement of purpose, application fee, and references. Arrange to have your official transcripts sent directly to the Office of Admissions for the School of Allied Health Professions. Transcript copies are not considered official. Original transcripts must be sent directly from the school where the credits were earned.
