International Transcripts

Official transcripts must be mailed directly from the issuing institution(s) to Admissions Processing at Loma Linda University. If the only transcript is in the possession of the applicant, a copy must be submitted to the issuing institution for stamped and signed verification, then mailed by the institution directly to LLU. Transcripts that are hand-carried or mailed by the student or anyone other than the issuing institution, even if in a sealed envelope, are not official.

All official transcripts must be received before an acceptance can be offered to an LLU program.

Transcripts from India

If you attended a college or institution in India that is affiliated with a university, we must have the university transcripts or mark sheets and degree certificate(s) attested by the Registrar, Controller of Examinations, or Principal of either the college or the university and sent directly from the college or university to Admissions Processing at Loma Linda University. Documents must include grades or marks received as well as the courses taken and degree certificates for any degrees awarded. Official attested transcripts from the college or institution are not complete without the attested university documents. All official transcripts must be received before an acceptance can be offered to an LLU program. Transcripts that are mailed by anyone other than the issuing institution, even if in a sealed envelope, are not official.

Transcripts from Iraq

Currently it is difficult to obtain transcripts from Iraq issued directly from the issuing-institution to LLU. If this is your situation, a transcript copy must be verified by the Iraqi Ministry of Education then mailed directly to LLU from the Ministry. Please allow plenty of time as the verification process can be very slow.

English Translations

Precise, word-for-word, English translations are required for all foreign language documents. Often the issuing-institution will provide an English translation. Alternatively, the student may provide the translation. If the translation is anything other than the issuing-institution's official document, an original-language official transcript is still required from the issuing-institution. Inclusion of the applicant's name in English on an original-language transcript by the issuing foreign school helps identify who the transcript is for.

International Evaluations

All international (non-US) transcripts including high school must be submitted to one of the following evaluation services. Evaluations by companies other than those listed are not accepted and will necessitate the resubmission of foreign transcripts to one of the following evaluation services. Contact the chosen service for their document requirements.

    1. World Education Services (WES)
    2. American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO)
    3. Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc (ECE)

Applicants to the School of Nursing, School of Dentistry (including all advanced dental degrees and certificates), School of Public Health, School of Allied Health Professions, School of Pharmacy, and the School of Medicine Basic Science programs, request a course-by-course evaluation from one of the above evaluation services. Applicants to schools not on this list or to the School of Science and Technology, request a general report.

Applicants to the School of Science and Technology: Request a general report from AACRAO or ECE identifying the institution(s) attended, credential(s) earned, dates of attendance, and the United States educational equivalent. Or request a course-by-course report from WES.

Results of the evaluation are to be sent to LLU directly from the evaluation service. All evaluation reports are advisory. LLU reserves the right to make final equivalency decisions.

English Proficiency

Regardless of nationality or citizenship, an applicant whose native language is not English and whose secondary education has been given outside the U.S. is required to pass the TOEFL, the MTELP, or their equivalents. A minimum TOEFL Score of 550 (paper-based) / 213 (computer-based) / 80 (Internet-based) is required. In addition, a minimum final score of 5.0 is required on the TWE (Test of Written English) part of the TOEFL. A Test of Spoken English (TSE) with a minimum score of 55 is required for MPA, entry-level MPT, and DPT only. TOEFL scores are valid for two years from the test date. If it has been more than two years since the test taker last took TOEFL, the test must be taken again to have the scores reported. The institution code for Loma Linda University is 4062.

Visit the TOEFL web site at www.ets.org/toefl for the most up-to-date information and exam registration.
