Doctor of Marital and Family Therapy

Douglas HuenergardtHello,

As the program director for the only nationally accredited DMFT program, I am pleased that you are considering the DMFT program at Loma Linda University (LLU). The LLU DMFT program is both a clinical degree and a degree in program development/evaluation and administration. It is unique because it is focused on the practical skills needed to develop programs and implement them with a variety of community partners. As the program director, the most satisfying work we do is thinking through potential programs and seeing them blossom into sustainable services to communities of need. I’d love to have the opportunity to speak with you and learn about your vision for yourself and the services you’d like to develop. The DMFT is a doing program. We work alongside of each other to develop and evaluate services so that DMFT students get opportunities to interact with community leaders to improve the quality of services to burdened populations. Ideal DMFT candidates are creative and pragmatic individuals who are energized about generating innovative interventions that address everyday family and community concerns.

I’d love to have you join us.

Sincerely,

Douglas Huenergardt, PhD, Northwestern University, 1967
Counseling and Family Sciences Department Associate Chair, Program Director of DMFT, Professor of Counseling and Family Sciences and AAMFT-approved supervisor, competency-based family therapy, couples therapy, family therapy program design and evaluation, and family and community systemic practice.
