Welcome students and friends!
My name is Beverly J. Buckles, DSW, and I am the founding chair and a professor in the Department of Social Work and Social Ecology. I received my MSW from Eastern Washington University and my DSW from Adelphi University. My areas of social work emphasis include geriatric social work, community organizing, policy/administration, and evaluation research. I teach Research Methods I and II and a yearlong Advanced Research Methods course. I also team-teach Program Planning and Evaluation and teach a psychosocial rehab elective.
As an educator, I have provided continuing education presentations for the National Association of Social Workers on geriatric care management and care giver burden. I am a member of the National Association of Deans and Directors of Social Work Programs and a past vice-president and current secretary-treasurer of the California Association of Deans and Directors of Social Work Programs. I am also president of the California Social Work Education Center (CalSWEC), and a member of the Council on Social Work Education and National Association of Social Workers.
I am active in the development of local and regional public and private collaboratives to address the educational and practice issues affecting mental health services to severely emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children and older adults at-risk of institutionalization. Currently I am extending my support of mental health services through the development of an international behavioral health trauma team for Loma Linda University.
