Department of Social Work and Social Ecology

Carrie Eskay, MSW, LCSW

Greetings!  My name is Carrie Eskay, and I hold the position of Clinical Educator in the Department of Social Work and Social Ecology at Loma Linda University.  In this position, I teach clinical academic courses including Foundation Practice with Individuals and Groups and the Advanced Professional Practicum and Seminar:  Clinical.  I am pleased to be the Student Government Faculty Advisor, working together with our Student Government officers to bring exciting and innovative ideas and activities to the Social Work students, faculty and staff.

As Program Director of the M.S. in Gerontology degree, I have as a priority the continuing development of this wonderful Gerontology program.  As an aging society, it is imperative that our Social Work students continue to develop skills that meet the needs of older adults.

As part of my Clinical Educator position, I supervise Master of Social Work interns at the LLU Behavioral Health Institute (BHI) and work in collaboration with the other discipline supervisors, physicians, students, and staff.  The BHI is an integrated academic clinic that brings together the disciplines of Social Work, Psychology, Psychiatry, and Counseling and Family Sciences.  Master and Doctoral level students provide integrated mental health out-patient services to the Loma Linda and surrounding communities.

As a social worker for 30 years, my work has focused on working with those with developmental disabilities, with hospitalized individuals in critical care within a community hospital system, and within the public school system as a school social worker.  My career has focused in more recent years on mental health with a recovery paradigm focus, program development, and clinical supervision of university students.  I have experience teaching foundation and advanced practice, child welfare, recovery, writing for social work, interviewing and communication in the social work field, school social work, and field practicum courses.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and maintain this license in the State of California.  I earned my Bachelor of Science in Social Services from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and my Master of Social Work degree from California State University, Long Beach.

Thank you!
