Community Kids Connection
(CKC) Tutoring

CKC Tutoring is a one-on-one mentoring and tutoring program pairing local kids with LLU students. The purpose of CKC Mentoring is two-fold:

  1. To offer local elementary, middle school, and high school students a consistent and reliable homework assistance program. It is our hope through this weekly tutoring that a mentoring relationship will develop with the LLU student serving as a role-model and encourager for their mentee.
  2. CKC Mentoring facilitates the development of LLU students who are engaged in their community. These sessions allow students to truly connect first with their mentee, then with his/her family, and often, their community at large.

Students meet once a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday) from 5:00-6:30 p.m. Also, there are a few weeks a year when the mentors are not scheduled to come (the first 2 weeks in December) where schools, classes, or other organizations can organize a program, run games, or give presentations for the local students.

We strongly encourage our volunteers to make the commitment for the entire scholastic year to fully foster the mentor relationship. However, if you are interested in starting mid-year, we always have new kids signing up for mentorship, so please join us!
