About Mayrim Torres

Hi my name is Mayrim. I grew up in Kissimmee, Florida and recently moved to Southern California to study Pharmacy. I love the outdoors and especially like to hike. I also love music, learning new languages, and travelling and experiencing different cultures. I am passionate about promoting health and nutrition in the community, and my career goal is to work as a hospital pharmacist. I really enjoy the opportunity to work closely with physicians and nurses to take care of critically ill patients.

Why Loma Linda University?

I chose to attend Loma Linda University because of its unique mission “to make man whole.” As a member of the healthcare team, it is important to look at all aspects of a patient’s life, not just their disease. I know that at LLU I am receiving a well-rounded education that is preparing me to continue the healing ministry of Jesus, as well as encouraging my faith on a daily basis.

Why Diversity is important on Loma Linda University Campus?

Diversity in Loma Linda University is a bridge to inspiring creativity. This past November, the Association of Latin American Students got together and created Noche Latina. It was a fun cultural night where we invited the LLU campus to come and celebrate Hispanic culture through food, music, and dance. It was great to see students and faculty come together and enjoy the celebration. Loma Linda University is a very diverse campus, and by creating events that showcase different cultures we are able to create awareness and encourage a strong sense of community on campus.
