Mission Statement:
Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is committed to supporting current and future underrepresented minority medical students, addressing the needs of underserved communities, and increasing the number of clinically excellent, culturally competent and socially conscious physicians.
Purpose:
- To create an atmosphere wherein professional excellence and moral principles can end fullest expression;
- To promote the dissemination of information relative to minority issues in the field of medical education;
- To help students and residents become aware of resources available to minority students and bring such resources to campus;
- To help teach students and residents about healthcare issues related to minorities in a culturally sensitive manner;
- To promote increases in the levels of minority student recruitment, admission and retention in the school of medicine;
- To encourage and promote the development of minority faculty in order to increase the presence of minority mentors and biomedical researchers in the school of medicine;
- To represent Loma Linda University School of Medicine in the Student National Medical Association.
