How to apply

The primary responsibility for financing your education rests with you. Financial aid is meant to supplement your family resources. You may apply for financial aid before receiving acceptance for admission to the University. However, a Federal Stafford Loan cannot be processed until you are accepted. Institutional awards are determined by the availability of funds with priority given to completed financial aid applications received by March 2, 2010. Late applications may receive funds as available.

Steps for the financial aid process

Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. Parental data must be included on the FAFSA, if you want to be considered for LLU institutional funds.

What happens next?

Once the FAFSA is processed by the Department of Education, an institutional student information record (ISIR) will be received. The Office of Financial Aid will use the ISIR to start processing your file.

Once your valid ISIR is received by LLU, the LLU online Supplemental Eligibility Form must be completed. This is part of Step 1 of the online financial aid process. A copy of your signed 2009 US federal income tax returns, should be mailed to the Office of Financial Aid. Your parents' signed 2009 US federal income tax returns, should be mailed to the Office of Financial Aid if you want to be considered for institutional funds administered through Loma Linda University.

Once you have completed and submitted your LLU online Supplemental Eligibility form, additional financial aid forms may be required based on your answers on the application. These forms will become immediately available online on the tracking requirements page.

Click here for detailed instructions on how to complete each of the financial aid forms.

The Office of Financial Aid will send you an email message advising you when Step 2 is ready for you to complete. Step 2 of the online financial aid process enables you to accept, change, or decline your financial aid package.

Instructions

On this page are detailed instructions on how to complete each of the financial aid forms.

For the best financial aid award the FAFSA results must be received in the Office of Financial Aid by March 2, 2010 (allow 3 to 4 weeks for processing). To submit your FAFSA go to: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.

If you are a new applicant:

  • Request a FAFSA PIN at the FAFSA web site. A PIN retrieval URL will be emailed to you.
  • Use the PIN to complete and submit the FAFSA form online.

If you are filing your renewal FAFSA on the web:

  • Your electronic access code (PIN number) was given to you when you filed the FAFSA last year. If you cannot remember it, you may request a PIN number at http://www.pin.ed.gov/ (Your PIN will be mailed to you from the Department of Education in 7-10 days. Your PIN is considered your signature. Keep it safe).
  • With your PIN, go back to the FAFSA web site and complete the FAFSA renewal. (You, the student, must be living at the same address as you reported in 2009-2010. If you moved you cannot use the renewal FAFSA on the web.
