Newly Admitted Students

Newly admitted students must fulfill specific health requirements as outlined on the New Student Portal (http://myllu.llu.edu) prior to enrolling in classes. Loma Linda University is committed to protecting the health of our students, the University community, and the health of our patient population. These health requirements not only promote health, but also accustom new students to the responsibilities of a health care professional. A completed Pre-entrance Health Requirements form, with all the necessary documentation, should be submitted at least 3 weeks prior to the beginning of registration in order to register or attend classes.

To complete the new student health requirements on time and appropriately, new students should follow the directions listed below:

  1. Download and print the Pre-entrance Health Requirements form and read the instructions on how to complete it.
  2. Once the Pre-entrance Health Requirements form is filled out and has the appropriate paperwork/signatures accompanying it, copies of the documents should be faxed or mailed to Student Health Service.

It usually takes 3 days to clear registration holds once all Pre-entrance Health Requirements' forms and documents have been received. Once you have submitted your Pre-entrance Health Requirements form and related documents, check your student portal for updates regarding your clearance status.

We recommend new students send all Pre-entrance Health Requirements at least 3 weeks prior to the start of registration. You will not be able to register or attend classes until you have completed your Pre-Entrance Health Requirements.

The Pre-entrance Health Requirements: Defined

MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)

To complete the MMR requirement you must have received two immunizations. You will need to have received both vaccines after 1956, or submit positive blood titer reports for each disease: (Must be quantitative IgG Antibody titers).

Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertusis)

You must have received a Tdap vaccine within the 10 years prior to beginning your program.

Booster shots are required every 10 years: A one-time dose of Tdap after age 18 (if you received your initial Tdap prior to that age). A Td (Tetanus/Diptheria) booster shot follows the adulthood Tdap.

Hepatitis B

To complete the Hepatitis B requirement you must have received a series of 3 immunizations. A positive blood titer report will also satisfy this requirement: (Must be quantitative Hepatitis B Surface Antibody titer).

Varicella (Chicken Pox)

To complete the Chickenpox requirement you must have received 2 immunizations. A positive blood titer report will also satisfy this requirement:  (Must be quantitative Varicella IgG Antibody titer).

If you have a history of TB or test positive on skin tests, please provide us with ALL of the following:

A previous positive PPD date and results in mm.
