Summer Research Programs
11085 Campus Street, Loma Linda, CA 92350 Phone: (909) 558-8777
Mission
The mission of the Office of Student Development (OSD) is to develop and coordinate new academic programs to reduce the documented disparity in the number of underrepresented minority students that graduate with doctoral degrees in the biomedical and clinical sciences in the USA. The overall goal is to increase diversity at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, which would enable us to continue providing high-quality education to serve in an increasingly diverse local and global community. The specific objective of the office is to increase the number of underrepresented minority students graduating with doctoral degrees in our basic and medical science programs. The mission of the OSD is in tune with the mission at LLU: to "promote an environment that reflects and builds respect for the diversity of humanity."
Goals
Our goal is to empower students from underrepresented and medically underserved communities to become research scientists and physicians who will lead the fight against health disparities. High school, undergraduate, medical students, and graduate fellows will have the opportunity to participate in the summer research training programs.
