Undergraduate Training Program (UTP)
The Undergraduate Training Program (UTP) is funded by the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD), National Institutes of Health (NIH). The program is run as a nine-week summer internship in a research laboratory of selected research mentors. The UTP includes scientific mentoring, participation in scientific seminars and lectures, educational enrichment activities, participation in our Health Disparities Research Symposium, and opportunities to attend national meetings to make scientific presentations. Participating students will be compensated competitively on an hourly basis.
Application Requirements
- Complete and submit the UTP application.
- Submit a 3000 - 4000 characters essay:
- Why would you like to participate in the UTP at Loma Linda University?
- How do you anticipate that this program will help you in your future goals as a biomedical researcher?
- What are your future career plans?
- What do you see yourself doing 5 and 10 years from now?
- What do you wish to gain from this summer experience?
- Submit three (3) letters of recommendation from professors (science, math, etc.).
- Submit most current college transcripts from all colleges attended.
- Once the student has been accepted into the UTP summer research program they will receive additional information and instructions.
