| MORNING SESSION |
Trauma to Toothaches: lessons from 20 years of pediatric dental emergencies
This program will update the dentist’s knowledge of frequently occurring pediatric dental emergencies. The topics discussed in the morning session range from intraoral lacerations to avulsed teeth. The goal is to share practical information that will increase the dentist’s confidence in managing emergency situations. |
| OBJECTIVES |
- Learn how to triage child patients with dental emergencies.
- For each type of emergency discussed, understand the diagnosis, management and implications for future dental care.
- Become aware of the most frequent dental presentations of child abuse and the dentist’s responsibilities and response.

| AFTERNOON SESSION |

Guidance of the Developing Dentition: when, what, why and who
In the afternoon session the topics discussed will be orthodontic diagnosis and interceptive treatment options for children in the early mixed dentition.

| OBJECTIVES |
- Introduce the concept of interceptive orthodontic care.
- Learn to recognize conditions that benefit from interceptive treatment.
- Learn to recognize conditions where treatment can be deferred to the permanent dentition without compromise in final result.
- Highlight treatment options including habit management.
