SYNOPSIS

There is no "trap door" at the neck that separates oral health from the health of the rest of the body. This is a paradigm shift that has significant implications for the treatment of oral conditions and for the role of the dental practitioner as a healthcare professional.

OBJECTIVES

At the end of the program, participants will have learned to: understand the role of biofilms as a precursor to oral conditions recognize commonly encountered oral conditions, such as plaque and gingivitis as real oral health concerns be familiar with the consequences to oral health and ultimately overall health when commonly encountered oral conditions are left untreated and allowed to progress be able to review different treatment modalities for commonly encountered oral conditions understand strategies on how to prevent or reduce the severity of commonly encountered oral conditions incorporate a Brush Floss Rinse (BFR) regimen as a core competency in oral care
