Dr. Lincoln Edwards is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dental Educational Services with a secondary appointment in the Department of Physiology/Pharmacology in the School of Medicine. Dr. Edwards obtained his PhD degree in Pharmacology from Loma Linda University and then went on to Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) where he completed a 3 year Postdoctoral Fellowship. At CWRU he became interested in the signaling pathways coupled to the imidazoline receptors. Currently Dr. Edwards is engaged in the development of imidazoline compounds as antidiabetic agents. Dr. Edwards has been a co-coordinator for the sophomore Pharmacology course in the School of Medicine and currently coordinates the dental sophomore Pharmacology course. In addition, he has trained several doctoral students and Postdoctoral Fellows. His research has been funded by the NIH and he has been an invited speaker for the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) as well as the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. Dr. Edwards has served as grant reviewer for The American Heart Association Western States Affiliate and also reviewed papers for the Journal of Public Health Dentistry and Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology.
