Biographical Synopsis

Yiming Li, DDS, MSD, PhD

Dr. Li is Professor of Restorative Dentistry, Director of Center for Dental Research, Director of Biocompatibility and Toxicology Research Laboratory, Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, Loma Linda, California. He is also a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He is a member of a number of committees at national and international levels, serving as Chairman of the American National Standard/American Dental Association (ANSI/ADA) Specification 41 “Recommended Standard Practices for Biological Evaluation of Dental Materials”, Convenor of International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/TC106 SC7 WG7 “Tooth Bleaching Agents”, and U.S. Expert to the ISO/TC106 SC10 “Biological Evaluation of Dental Materials”. Dr. Li is a consultant to a number of professional organizations, including the ADA and California Dental Association. Since May 2006 he has been a member of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Dental Products Panel. His major research interests include biological, pharmacological and toxicological effects of fluoride; biocompatibility of medical devices, and surface characterization of enamel, dentin and materials; he has received numerous research grants in these areas from U.S. government agencies and industries, with so far a total of approximate $8 million research funding. Dr. Li has more than 200 publications in scientific journals and has lectured extensively in Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe, South America, and the U.S.
