Dentistry professor revises metal-ceramic technology textbook
In January 2009 the Quintessence Publishing Company (Chicago, IL) released an extensively revised second edition of Dr. W. Patrick Naylor’s textbook on metal-ceramic technology entitled, Introduction to Metal-Ceramic Technology (hardcover, 224 pp.). Dr. Naylor is the associate dean for advanced dental education and a faculty member in the advance education program in prosthodontics.
Written “specifically for dental technology students, dental students, and graduate students,” Dr. Naylor’s beautifully illustrated text provides introductory level, skill-oriented technical information on the processes involved in fabricating this very popular type of restoration. Readers will appreciate the evidence-based text, updated photographs, and new illustrations along with the brief synopses of selected journal articles now at the end of each chapter. Also noteworthy is the expanded dental materials content that now includes an added section on biocompatibility.
