Volumetric digital imaging lab
Department of orthodontics

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our radiological services.  We were the first installation of the NewTom 9000, a 3D volumetric radiographic machine dedicated to the maxillofacial complex.  Over the past two years we have found the NewTom to be a tremendous tool to aid in the diagnosis and treatment planning for various dental issues such as implant placement, surgical concerns, trauma, identifying degenerative joint disease, impacted cuspids, and airway compromise to name a few.

We invite you to explore this website and encourage you to try this new technology.  Our trained and dedicated staff will help you in meeting the imaging needs of your patients.  We would like to refer you to the November 2003 issue of the CDA Journal that was dedicated to digital imaging, edited by Dr. Robert Danforth.  The emphasis was on the NewTom 9000 and the amount of information to be gained with comparatively low radiation.

A dedicated dentomaxillofacial VT

  • Able to produce reports on paper, transparency, DVD, or CD.

  • Complete data acquisition in 70 sec. (patient effective exposure: 36 sec.)

  • Several reconstructions at any angle performed on the data of a SINGLE acquisition.

  • Axial, cross section, panoramic, and 3-D images available in real time from a SINGLE scan.

  • Ability to outline mandibular canal and other areas of interest.
