LLUAHSC web: content management system (CMS): uploading files

Content management system (CMS) guide: uploading files

To upload images and other files:
Resize and crop images as needed using a photo editing program before uploading them. (If your files are too large, they won't be uploaded.) Click "Upload files" on the left of the page (in the "CMS home" view) or at the bottom of the page you're editing. Choose the appropriate destination directory to upload your file(s). Then click "Choose File" to select a file to upload. Click "Save" when you're done.

Files are uploaded into the appropriate directory within the directory you choose depending upon the file type.

  • .jpg and .gif files are uploaded into an /images/ directory.
  • .pdf and .doc files are uploaded into a /documents/ directory.
  • Audio and video files are uploaded into a /multimedia/ directory.

Upload feature

After you click "Save," the file(s) uploaded will be listed as shown below.

Link showing file uploaded

Placing images
To place an image (.jpg or .gif), copy the URL / file path that's displayed after you upload it. In another browser window, open (edit) the file in the CMS where you want to place the image. Place your cursor where you want the image to appear on the web page, click the image icon in the toolbar, and paste the path into the URL field.

Linking files
To link to a file (.pdf or .doc), copy the URL / file path that's displayed after you upload it. In another browser window, open (edit) the file in the CMS where you want to link to the file. Highlight the text you want to link, click the link icon in the toolbar, and paste the path into the URL field. PDF and .doc links should include (PDF) or (Microsoft Word .doc) at the end. If the file is larger than 100 K, include the file size (eg, (PDF - 300 K)).
