Content management system (CMS) guide: How to move files from the old web site into the CMS
This tutorial was created to help guide you in moving content from the old web site to the CMS. Much of what you learn here will familiarize you with the system so you can maintain pages you post in the CMS and create new pages later.
1. Click the "Change editor" button link on the side when you log into the CMS.
When moving pages from the old site into the CMS, use the Old Editor. Click the "Old Editor" radio button and click the "Change Editor" button at the bottom of the page.
2. Open the old-style web page you want to move to the CMS.
In this example, we'll move the "LLU Department of Biochemistry goals" page located at www.llu.edu/llu/medicine/biochem/information/goals.htm. Open this page in your web browser. The content area, or the information you will move to the CMS, is highlighted in gray below. Copy all content that appears above the bottom horizontal line and main-site links.

3. Open a second browser window and log in.
In a new browser window (under "File... New Window" in most browsers), log into the CMS at http://www.llu.edu/CMS/ using your LDAP/e-mail login and password.

4. View file/directory list in the CMS and open a new page.

Before you create a new page, view the URL for the page you opened in your first browser window. In this example the URL is: www.llu.edu/llu/medicine/biochem/information/goals.htm We can see that the "goals page" is located in the "information" directory. Prior to creating a new page in the CMS, go to the corresponding directory in the CMS by selecting it from the "Directory" drop-down menu. In this case, we will choose the "information" directory.
You should now be in the correct directory. Click "Edit" next to one of the files. You will see a screen that looks like the below illustration. Click "New Page." This will bring you to a screen where you will enter content and name and describe the document. (shown in next illustration under #5).
5. Paste the content into the new page in the CMS.
On the "New Page" you opened in the CMS (it will say "Edit Content" at the top), first enter the information required in the upper fields. Be sure to give the file the same name as on the current site (in this case, "goals"). Then, paste the content you copied from the old-style web page into the "Content" field. The CMS will log you out after 45 minutes of inactivity. Save your work part-way through if you need more time.
WYSIWYG editor
6. Apply heading styles, review, save, and submit.
In the WYSIWYG editor, highlight the first heading ("Department of Biochemistry") and select H1 in the drop-down menu. Select the next heading ("Department goals" in this case) and select H2 in the drop-down menu. Click "Save." This will display the completed page like below. Review the page and click "Submit Page." Once the web page is submitted, the appointed approvers in your department will be notified. Once "approved," a web team member will review and publish the page.
