HOURS
For all ages, Monday through Friday, we offer 9- to 10-hour whole-day programs that are within a 12-hour day, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday.

ADMISSION PRIORITY
Philosophy: As an outreach program of Loma Linda University Church Ministry, the Children's Center is operated first to educate our young children, and second to meet the needs of the community.

1. Since both Loma Linda University and Loma Linda University Medical Center have donated the land and building for Loma Linda Children's Center, and because the University Church has contributed resources and support to the Center's development, admission of students to the Center will be based on parental affiliation with their employer/church membership. Priority for admission will be given to:

1.1 A sibling of a currently enrolled student of Children's Center.
1.2 Verified employees of Loma Linda University Medical Center, verified employees/students of Loma Linda University and verified employees/members of Loma Linda University Church.
1.3 Other verified employees/members of Seventh-day Adventist Churches.

2. After discerning affiliation, priority will then be based on student's attendance, in descending order of importance:

2.1 Full day, full week (6-10 hours).
2.2 Full day, part week.
2.3 Part day, full week
2.4 Part day, part week.

ENROLLMENT
To enroll your child, please fill out a waiting list card. Due to shortage of space, we take children on a first-come, first-serve basis. A nonrefundable security deposit equal to two-weeks tuition will hold a position for two weeks.

PRE-ENTRANCE ORIENTATION AND VISITATION
We encourage the parent and child to visit the center and have a conference with the lead teacher of your child's room. The child's anxiety is somewhat relieved if opportunity is given to become familiar with the teacher and surroundings. The first day at school is easier for the child and parent if both have visited the school together.

HEALTH
Upon enrollment, the child must have on file the following:

1. A preadmission physical.
2. Copy of a current immunization record.

DISCIPLINE
Our center strives to help each child learn and use appropriate behavior. If a child is dangerous to the another children's environment, we reserve the right to require the removal of that child. Teachers will try to help the child understand that certain behaviors are inappropriate. We appreciate your help and ideas in dealing with your child. Absolutely no physical punishment will be used with any child.

HOLIDAYS
The Center is closed on the following major holidays; New Year's, Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, and Christmas.

NOTIFICATION OF SCHOOL
Teachers are concerned when a child is out and would appreciate knowing if your child is sick. If a communicable disease is diagnosed, we need the information for the sake of other children who may have been exposed.

ABSENCES
A 50 percent tuition discount will be given to each full-time child for up to a total of four weeks cumulative absences within one year (July 1 to June 30) regardless of reason. Discount is accumulated one week per quarter. Part-time children will be given a prorated discount.

a. There will be no accumulation of discount from one year to the next.

b. From date of enrollment, the discount for that year will be prorated at .38 days per week.

c. In order to receive the discount, the parent has to fill out the absence/vacation form and turn it in to the director. In order for us to plan efficient staffing at peak action periods, prior notification as early as possible (two weeks, if possible) is required.

MEDICATION
There are occasions when a child needs medication. Upon written notification by the child's physician, we will administer such medication at the specified time and in the specified amount indicated. Absolutely NO medication, including over-the-counter drugs, will be given without a doctor's written permission. Please store all medications in the center's kitchen and fill out the appropriate paper work.

POLICY ON ILLNESS
We recognize the difficulty working parents have when their child is ill. However, we ask that you find alternate care when your child is sick. If your child has any symptoms listed below, or is otherwise ill, you will be asked to take your child home.

1. Fever - 100 degrees or above.
2. Eye infection (conjunctivitis) - eye infection referred to as "pink eye."
3. Diarrhea - after two very liquid stools.
4. Runny nose - green mucus and has a smell.
5. Vomiting
6. Impetigo - Runny nose - green mucus and has a smell.

Upon arrival, each child is checked by a staff member to screen for early signs of illness. The adult who brings the child must wait until the child has been accepted. This is for your child's protection. If your child becomes ill during the day, you will be notified immediately and be asked to come for the child at once. An ill child must be picked up at once for the protection of the sick child and the other children. Your child must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school.

EMERGENCIES
If a child is injured while at school, you will be contacted at once. In an extreme emergency, your child will be transported to the emergency room of Loma Linda University Medical Center.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
For your child's protection, we ask that you 1) accompany your child to the room, 2) sign your child in, and 3) leave your child only after a teacher has accepted your child. You must sign your child out daily. NO ONE WILL BE PERMITTED TO TAKE A CHILD OFF THE PREMISES WITHOUT WRITTEN CONSENT OF THE PARENT. There may be times when you or your designee are required to present valid picture identification.

MEALS
Breakfast time is from 6 to 7:30. If your child has not had the opportunity to eat breakfast during that time, they may eat when the morning snack is served. A morning and an afternoon snack are provided for the children. The morning snack is served at 8 and the afternoon snack is at 3:15. We ask you to provide a nutritious lunch for your child. Place food items in safe containers and label them with your child's name. Milk is provided to all children. The rotation menu is posted on the parent bulletin board.

CLOTHING
Provide a complete change of clothing at school. Label each item with a permanent marker. Please send the clothing in a zip-lock baggie and/or a small backpack. Clothing worn at school should allow for comfort and durability. Children get dirty playing and enjoying their day. If sandals are used, please make sure they have a securing strap around the heel. Clothing promoting aggressive behavior is inappropriate attire for school wear. Please regularly replace clothing as your child grows and weather changes.

TOYS
We ask that all personal toys, books, etc., be left at home. This eliminates problems that arise concerning ownership and sharing. Exceptions are made for "Show and Tell" day and for stuffed animals at nap time. Toys stimulating violent, destructive play should not be brought to school.

NAP TIME
A nap is a time to relax and provides an important balance in a child's day. During 1 to 3 p.m., children must rest quietly on their mats. Parents will provide a fitted crib sheet and a blanket, clearly labeled with the child's name. Children may bring a cuddly toy to help them rest.

TERMINATION
We require that you give the Center a written fourteen-day notice (intent to quit form) before withdrawing your child in order to apply the security deposit to your account.

NOTE TO PARENTS
This information is provided to acquaint you with Loma Linda Children's Center and to serve as a handy information reference regarding practices, procedures, responsibilities, and benefits for you as a parents. It is not possible, of course, to explain in detail all pertinent information. If you have questions, please consult your child's teacher, the director or the assistant director.

Rearing children is not an easy job; nor is the responsibility a light one. We do not want parents to feel reluctant to talk over any problems they may be having with their child at home because we may be having the same problems at school. Perhaps together we can come to an understanding of the problem and work together to correct the situation in the best possible way. We do not have all the answers, but it is our desire to be of assistance, if possible.

Please make an appointment with your child's teacher. However, please do not interrupt teachers when they are busy interacting with the children. Parent conferences and other meetings are excellent ways to exchange information about your child to the staff.
