The School of Pharmacy will begin offering the doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree in the Autumn quarter of 2002. This is a four-year program with expected inaugural class graduation in spring of 2006.
Preferably, applicants will have successfully completed a baccalaureate degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or a related scientific field. The minimum requirement for acceptance without a BS degree is completion of the ~72 semester or ~109 quarter credit pre-pharmacy program. This usually requires two to three years of college-level study.
Students who already have a BS degree must insure that all of the pre-pharmacy requirements in the sciences, math, computer, and general education (communication, humanities / fine arts, and social sciences / behavioral studies) areas have been completed. For a course to be acceptable in fulfilling the prerequisites, it must be at the level of those required for a major in the field; introductory courses are not acceptable.
