SYNOPSIS
Recognizing and treating an overclosed occlusion is one of the most important ways we can provide excellent, comprehensive dental care for our patients. When the vertical dimension is controlled, along with the decay, fractures, abscesses, and periodontal disease, success is greatly improved. Learn how to recognize an overclosed deep bite, what causes it, when to open the vertical dimension, how much to open the bite, and what are the most used techniques and problems associated with changing the vertical dimension. But most important is, how to open the bite when providing ideal treatment over time, as the patient can afford it, without the need for full mouth reconstruction.
