School of Dentistry students take leadership roles in LLUSA reprinted, with permission, from the LLUSA Samaritan Running unopposed, Allen Job, D2, was elected as 20012 LLU Student Association president by the Loma Linda University student senate in session February 21. Allen brings several years of experience to the position, having served for two years as financial vice president and, this year, as co-executive vice president with fellow dental student Liz Park, D2. After his confirmation as president was announced, Allen said, "I plan to use my office to foster increased student participation and unity on the campus." In other elections, Liz Park was re-elected, along with medical student Eric Kendall, as co-executive vice presidents; dental student Kirk Larson, D2, was re-elected as financial vice president; physical therapy student Joseph Kim and occupational therapy student Elizabeth Chung were elected co-social vice presidents; and public health students Tamarra Jones and Olivia Moses were elected as co-community service vice presidents. Student Association officers are elected by the student senate in general session, the reason being, according to Andrew T. Schoppe, director of student activities, that the student senate generally represents a well-informed and equally distributed cross-section of the student body as a whole. Several positions are yet to be filled and will be appointed by the president-elect; Allen plans to announce his choices for religious vice-president, newspaper editor, public director and secretary at the next session of the student senate, Wednesday, April 4, in the Martinson conference room in the Drayson center. All senate meetings are open to the student body. For more information on Student Senate proceedings, call (909) 558-4979.
