Frank Cortez-Flores, PhD, DDS,
MS, MA, MPH, dental educational
services, was recently honored by the California Parent Teachers
Association. Following is an excerpt: "The PTA Very Special
Person Award recognizes people who have made significant contributions
to our schools, neighborhoods, and community. [Dr. Cortez- Flores]
saw a problem in his own neighborhood, took action, followed through,
and made a difference
He noticed a serious toxic pollu tion
violation from an adjoining property
and immediately took
action. To make a long story short, the school was compensated for
that violation and the pollution was stopped. Our children are safe
again. Not only has he made a difference in the world, but also
more importantly, he has made a difference where he lives-our neighborhood
Congratulations
and our gratitude for making a difference."
