Blackboard support now offered to faculty

| Educational support
services now offers Blackboard support to School of Dentistry faculty.
The team includes (from left): Richard Tinker, director, Sam Sadanala,
and Rob Holland, educational computer techs. |
Comprehensive support for the Blackboard computer program
is now available to School of Dentistry faculty through the Schools
educational support services, located on Taylor Street, according to Richard
Tinker, director.
On the Loma Linda University campus, Blackboard is housed on a server
on the Schools Intranet site; <lluonline.llu.edu>.
Faculty may post information on Blackboard including course
syllabus, handouts and notes, slides for review, links to related websites,
and more. Using Blackboard, students can work on assignments in chat rooms,
and take quizzes and tests.
One important feature available to instructors is the ability
to make information that is posted time-sensitive.
For example, a test may be made available to students for a one-hour window.
And instead of posting the entire quarters notes or slides, the
information can be made accessible to students for any time period the
teacher desirespossibly only the day or week the information is
covered in class.
Mr. Tinker has just returned from completing advanced training in Blackboard
through Syllabus. The courses were offered on the Santa Clara University
campus, Santa Clara.
In order to begin working with Blackboard, faculty should contact Andrew
Haglund via e-mail: <ahaglund@univ.llu.edu> or by calling ext. 88072
for course and password for courses installed into the campus Blackboard
server.
After receiving a password, faculty should call Rob Holland, educational
computer tech, at ext. 44605, to schedule individual tutoring sessions.
Tutoring with Mr. Tinker, Mr. Holland, or Mr. Sam Sadanala may be scheduled
either in the faculty members office or in educational support services
offices.
