Hygiene '00 holds vespers

by Brandy Vander Dussen, DH'00
Kris Wilkins, DH'80, instructor in dental hygiene, hosted dinner and vespers at her house on Friday evening, July 16, for the dental hygiene Class of 2000. It was an opportunity for classmates to bring family and friends together to relax and socialize outside of the dental school setting. The seniors competed in lively games of ping-pong, played with Samson the German shepherd, and shared tales of 29 Palms.

After an Italian dinner, Dennis Palitang opened worship by taking requests on the piano, and prayed for God's blessing on the class; then Chiara Chia and Jon Gibbs shared pictures from their mission trip to Fiji this past June.

"It was nice to see my classmates in a different atmosphere and share a special time with God during vespers," Elizabeth Brutus said. "It was a good experience; vespers helped me see my classmates in a different light. Kris and her husband made us feel like part of her family, not just her students."

The seniors thank Kris Wilkins and her family for opening their home and for the wonderful dinner served.

Vespers Students
Dennis Palitang, Paul Mendiola, and Paul's girlfriend, sing a hymn at the senior class vespers. Christine Hendricks, Isabel Elias, Jennifer Rader (back to camera), Kim Uyeyama and Julie Jakovac share conversation and dessert.
