Clinical Service Division
* Welcome to Rashaad Roberson, a new clerk with clinical service division.
Dean's office
* Representatives from Saudi Aramco, one of Saudi Arabia's largest oil
companies, recently visited the School. Aramco has 4,500 employees and
employs as many as 90 dentists. The company is seeking a school in the
U.S. which can provide two years of advanced training in various disciplines
for dentists in their dental services department. Walid H. Alamir, DDS,
coordinator, professional education and Rafat S. Al-Turki, DDS, MS, director,
dental services department, met with administrators from various departments,
and were given a tour of the School and campus.
Dental Supply
* Congratulations to Robert Paunescu, dental supply cashier, who recently
received U.S. citizenship.
Endodontics
* Welcome to Cheryl Bellerose, who has joined the department as a secretary.
ODRP
* Ronald Blank, DDS, has been promoted from assistant to associate professor;
and Heidi Christensen, SD'83, MS, has been promoted from assistant to
associate professor.
Restorative Dentistry
* Fred Berry, DDS, FAGD, professor of restorative dentistry, presented
a table clinic on þRapid extrusion techniques for severely compromised
teethú at the recent ADA annual meeting in Chicago.
* Joseph Kan, SD'90, PG'95, predoctoral implant program coordinator in
the department of restorative dentistry, has been appointed as section
editor, periodontology/implantology for Practical Periodontics and Aesthetic
Dentistry, a prestigious journal with a large, worldwide circulation.
* Congratulations to April Eberly, restorative dentistry department,
who recently was married to Ty Thorson.
Sterilization
* Welcome to Jeremy Eslinger, who has joined the depart- ment as a sterilization
technician.
Department of Dental Educational Services
* Frank Cortez-Flores, PhD, DDS, MS, MA, MPH, adjunct faculty, attended
the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene Annual Conference,
in Houston, Texas, in November. He presented the results of two of his
studies, þDengue, Aedes Aegypti: A Public Health Problem Along the TexasÐMexico
Border.ú The studies were also presented at the first and second International
Conference of Emerging Infectious Diseases in Atlanta, Georgia.
