Amphitheaters remodeled

Students in the School of Dentistry returned from vacation in January to resume their studies in newly renovated amphitheaters in Prince Hall.

Charles Goodacre, DDS, MSD, dean, School of Dentistry, gives a lecture to dental students on the first day after renovations to the amphitheater in Prince Hall were complete.

From new carpeting to new lighting, the classrooms also added audio-visual equipment, which is controlled by the modern podiums in each room. Conference table seating have data ports at each place. In the future, this will enable students to connect their computers for direct access to instructors' materials.

Funding for this remodeling was provided by the generous support of the dental class of 1971, who took on the project in celebration of their 30th honor year; and alumni, faculty, staff, and friends who sponsored individual seats in the classrooms.

The dental class of 1978 had previously contributed to the purchase of the audio-visual equipment.

More than 70 percent of the seats have been sponsored to date, according to Barbara Bostwick, director of development for the School of Dentistry.

"Each sponsor is recognized on a small plaque at the seat, so current and future students will know who made the renovation possible," she says. For information about sponsorships, contact the development office at (909) 558-4754.
