Student news, July 1999 Orthodontics grads celebrate with banquet The Tenth Annual Student-Faculty-Alumni Banquet honoring the graduating orthodontic students was held June 10, 1999 at the Castaway Restaurant. Students receiving the Masters of Science degree in orthodontics are: Drs. Jeffery C. Biggs, Brent J. Hurst, Anitha Nair, Vicky T. Nguyen, Hyunsup Shim, and Barton L. Soper (SD'95). The orthodontics Class of 2000, now beginning their second year of graduate studies leading to the MS degree, include Drs. Sy Nuyen, Camille Neagu, Margaret Kowalczyk, Mark Batesole, Sonya Finnie, and Marc Dunn. The Roland D. Walters Research Award was presented in recognition of research performed and the development of research protocols that will be useful in future projects at Loma Linda Univeristy. This year's recipients were Drs. Vicky T. Nguyen and Jeffery C. Biggs. Donald L. Also included are two alumni, Dave Hernandez, SD'75B and Don Kellogg, SD'72, as well as Dr. Robert Rittenhouse, a chemistry professor who serves as the pre-dental advisor on the WWC campus. The photo was taken in the La Casita Restaurant in Walla Walla. Sylvia Davis, MA, director of admissions, hosted the group as a part of School of Dentistry recruitment. On Sunday, June 20, Travis Tramel, DH'00, and Gianna Hutton, SAHP student, were married in Fresno, California. Fifteen members of the Tramel family came from Georgia for the wedding. Following a honeymoon cruise, the Tramels will continue with their coursework in dental hygiene and physical therapy.
