During the tour, led by Jeni Christian and Robin Fierro
(record analysts), the children learned about the importance of brushing
their teeth from Carlos Moretta, D4. He was joined by Chris Ehrbright,
SD01, Shea Bess, SD01, and Lisa Bozzetti, D3, to give a hands-on
oral health care presentation to four volunteers. Clinic supply provided
each child with a disposable gown they could take home, goggles, and a
goodie bag with toothbrushes and toothpaste. Carl Panaguiton and Pablo
Carrillo helped to set up the clinic for the tour. After the tour, the following thank you notes were sent
to the School: Dear DentistsThank you for the stuff. I liked
the chair. I remember everything you told me. I wont let Bowser
get my teeth. Did you like the song? Your Friend, Lorenzo Editors note: Bowser was the cavity monster character
in Carlos Morettas presentation. Dear Dental School FriendsThank you for the
toy and the blue shirt and the toothbrush and the toothpaste. Thank you
for letting us wear the goggles. When I grow up, I want to be a dentist
just like you. Love, Ada Dear Loma Linda Dental SchoolThank you for allowing first and second grade students from Bonnie Oehl Elementary School to tour your school. A simple example of the impact this trip made on these children, was through the eyes of one little young man who had been on numerous field trips with his day care. He said, Mrs. Secor, I went to Pharaohs Lost Kingdom, the LA Zoo, and to the museum, but this was the Best Field Trip I have ever been on. That dear friends, of Loma Linda School of Dentistry, is an indication of the impression you have made on 38 little people. Thank you once again for the time, energy, and knowledge you shared. Sincerely, Carolyn Secor
