Board of Trustees
The Loma Linda University Board of Trustees, meeting in full session on Monday, May 19, 1999, approved the following items:

Harold E. Schnepper, DMD, one of the founding faculty of the School of Dentistry, was named emeritus professor of dentistry.

Frederick A. Berry, DDS, (restorative dentistry), Ming-Way Lee, DDS, (restorative dentistry-International Dentist Program), and Daniel E. Tan, DDS, (restorative dentistry) were promoted to full professor status.

Douglass B. Roberts, DDS, professor of restorative dentistry, was approved as chair of the department.
Endodontics
Lynn Diaz, DDS, PG'99,
graduate student in endodontics, was listed in the 1998-1999 edition of Who's Who Among American Universities and Colleges. Earning a place in this publication is based on academic achievement (students must place in the top 10 percent of their class), service to the community, participation in extracurricular activities, and potential for continued success.

Periodontics
Thorarinn Sigurdsson, DDS, professor of periodontics, and his wife Hildur Karadottir, RDH, dental hygiene instructor, left on June 4 for Norway. He has accepted a position at the University of Bergen. They were here for seven years and we are going to miss them both very much.

Restorative Dentistry
In March, at the 14th annual meeting of the Academy of Osseointegration in Palm Springs, three presentations were made by:

1. Joseph Kan, SD'90, PG'95, co-authors Kittichai Rungcharassaeng, DDS, MS'98, Jaime Lozada, DDS, PG'95, and Charles Goodacre, SD'71, MSD. Title: Effects of Smoking on Implant Success in Grafted Maxillary Sinuses.
2. Kittichai Rungcharassaeng, co-authors Jaime Lozada, Joseph Kan, Wayne Campagni, DMD, Carlos Muñoz, DDS, MSD, PhD. Title: Marginal Bone Change Around Immediately Loaded Implants: One-year Prospective Study.
3. Khaled Bohsali, PG'96, co-authors Joseph Kan, Kittichai Rungcharassaeng, Charles J. Goodacre. Title: Assessment of Implant Framework Fit: the Perio Test vs. the One-screw Test.

On April 15, Dr. Kan gave a one-day lecture to advanced graduate program in periodontics and prosthosdontics students at University of Washington at Seattle on implant dentistry, prosthodontics, and surgery.

On May 16, in Calgary, Alberta, Dr. Kan co-authored a presentation with Drs. Goodacre and Lozada, at the 81st Annual Academy of Prosthodontics, on Factors Affecting Implant Success in Grafted Maxillary Sinuses.
