Department news


ODRP

The ODRP department welcomes Dr. Kandasamy Rengasamy as a full-time faculty member. He joined the department as an assistant professor in January, and is originally from Sri Lanka, a small island south of India. Kannan, as he likes to be called, graduated from Annamalai University School of Dentistry. After graduating from dental school, he practiced dentistry in India and Sri Lanka.
In 1996, Kannan came to the United States and joined the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, where he completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial radiology in 1998. He has also completed a two-and-a-half year residency program in advanced education in general dentistry. During that time, he was involved in patient care and teaching radiology to dental students.
He is single and enjoys travel to historical places and hiking in the mountains. The whole School of Dentistry family welcomes Dr. Rengasamy.


Orthodontics

Congratulations to Dr. Timothy Elisen, first-year orthodontic resident, and his wife, Jennifer, on the birth of their daughter, Jill Jacqueline Elison. Jill weighed 8 lbs., 3 oz., at birth.

Periodontics

The department of periodontics welcomes Dr. Yong Liu as a new faculty member. She received her dental degree at West China University of Medical Sciences, Chengdu, People’s Republic of China in July, 1992, and her master’s degree in biomedical sciences, University of Connecticut Health Center and attended the Clinical certificate and master of science program in periodontology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her last position was as a teaching and research assistant for the periodontics department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

New employees

The School welcomes the following new employees:

Erica Taylor-Morris, Lab Helper, Sterilization.

A baby

Congratulations to Lisa DeGeorge and her husband, Ron, on the birth of their daughter, Katie Renee. Katie was born Saturday February 10th, at 7:23 a.m. and weighed 6 lbs, 2 oz.
