Dentalgram March 2002 Department News Dental hygiene Marilynn Heyde was promoted from instructor to full-time assistant professor, dental hygiene. This designation was approved by the LLU Board during the February, 2002, session. Endodontics Dr. Shahrokh Shabahang has been promoted from assistant professor to associate professor, endodontics   Oral and maxillofacial surgery Dr. Philip J. Boyne was an invited lecturer January, 2002, to Beverly Hills Academy. His topic was “New osseous surgical procedures to promote maximal esthetics and prosthodontic functional reconstruction in implant dentistry.” Dr. Alan S. Herford, SD’94, assistant professor, program director, was an invited lecturer for the KLS–Martin Annual Meeting in Jacksonville, Florida, in January. His topic was “Treatment of maxillofacial trauma.” During the 41st Alumni Student Convention, the department contributed a scientific session: “The controversy surrounding PRP and bone inductors,” and “Sinus grafting: penetration of the sinus membrane.” Pediatric dentistry Todd Milledge, SD’88, PG’95, chair, pediatric dentistry, has been promoted from assistant professor to associate professor. Congratulations to Claudia Oronoz, pediatric dentistry, upon receiving her CDA certification.   Prosthodontics Congratulations to Dr. Fernando Munguia, assistant professor and his wife, Jacqueline, on the birth of baby Michelle January 30. The graduate prosthodontics faculty and residents attended the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics meeting in Chicago, Illinois, February 19 to 23. The department welcomes new first-year resident Manuel Guevara, who comes to Loma Linda from Columbia. Welcome The School welcomes the following new employees: Helen Guzman, secretary, and Elizabeth Rodriguez, dental assistant, endodontic clinic. Janine Jensen, who previously served as supervisor for oral and maxillofacial surgery, has returned. She will replace Gwen Seaton as periodontic clinic supervisor when Gwen and Ben Seaton welcome their first child, due this May.
