Comments on the 2003 Alumni Student Convention

Marianne and I were at Loma Linda for the 50th. As usual, the church service was excellent with the musical selections and Randy Roberts’ innovative preaching style.…I saw many classmates and friends—and Jud Klooster. Jud somehow always recognizes me, even in a crowd. He has a special gift that way, and I think it served the School well in so many ways during his long tenure. I appreciated his humble comments at the celebration; he said the things that were credited to him during his watch at the helm were really done by so many other people, and that he just happened to be there at the time they took place. Of course, his hand on the wheel had a great deal to do with why the other people he referred to were willing to do those great things… The parade of other GIANTS of dentistry Sunday night built into a great sense of pride for me. I also appreciated Chancellor Hart’s comments drawing the evening to a close on a spiritual note. It was a great weekend!
