Quick Recovery User's Conference update: San Antonio
By Marina Moore

The Quick Recovery Conference was held at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSC), April 10 to 12, 2002.

All three days were filled with interesting information on how the internal day-to-day business is managed. The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio predoctoral student body consists of 95 juniors, 85 senior dental students, and 45 dental hygiene students. UTHSC has adopted the group practice model. One of their future goals is to integrate dental hygiene students into the group practice. They are also open to suggestions.

Quick Recovery Users Group continues to grow; there are now 15 universities in the United States that utilize Quick Recovery software. Our spring conference had one of the best turnouts—14 schools were in attendance. Jackson, Mississippi University recently signed up with Quick Recovery and is schedule to go live in June, 2002.

The agenda had many interesting presentations in the areas of admissions/screening, patient care, patient registration, group practice, insurance billing, student reports, laboratory tracking, and clinical information system. There was a Q&A session in which the group had a chance to listen, learn, and offer solutions.

We invited General Systems Designs (GSD) to participate in our meetings. They share valuable information including what projects are being worked on, when to expect the next scheduled upgrade, and what is in store for the future.

The next conference is scheduled for the fall quarter with dates still to be determined.
