The Desert Sun newspaper publishes article about dental care provided by LLU at Saul Martinez Elementary School

An article titled "Dentistry students restore smiles at Saul Martinez," written by reporter Ronnie Lynn, appeared on the front page of Coachella Valley's The Desert Sun newspaper.

The article, which ran in the October 30, 2000 issue, describes dental care provided by School of Dentistry students to children who attend Saul Martinez Elementary school in Mecca. The program was made possible through a partnership between Coachella Valley Unified School District and the School of Dentistry.

Many of the children who receive treatment have never before visited a dentist or hygienist.

The reporter interviewed Ronald Forde, SD'83, director of service learning, and several dental students.
