Seventh-day Adventist Dentists (NASDAD) hold annual
meeting
On October 12, the National Association of Seventh-day Adventist Dentists
gathered at Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale, Illinois for their annual
meeting. The delightful weather, perfect golfing opportunities, good food,
wonderful spiritual leadership, fine musical talent, and the pleasure
of meeting new and old friends--all combined to provide a fulfilling weekend.
Thursday was a day of golf and sightseeing in Chicago, followed by a meeting of the Mission Committee where $30,000 was designated in support of mission projects that were presented. After a delicious buffet supper, NASDAD business for the coming year was considered at the annual fall Board meeting. Friday morning was well spent in Steve Morrow's (SD'60, PG84, MS) timely and valuable lecture on endodontics for the general practice office. On Friday evening and Sabbath, Pastor George Pangman, from the Marietta Seventh-day Adventist Church offered an inspiring introduction of his personal Saviour, and an invitation to become more closely acquainted with Him. Our hearts were further warmed as we gathered in the fireplace lounge and enjoyed refreshment provided by the Lake Union Conference, and lively conversation that comes with meeting good friends and colleagues for another annual fellowship. Steve Arrington, former chief diver for The Costeau Society, and lay youth minister, Faith for Today, shared life experiences and the anti-drug ministry he presents throughout the United States. He extended an invitation to experience mission service with him in Fiji at the Buca Bay Medical and Dental Clinic, and can be reached at (530) 872-4884. After a lively musical concert by Steve Martin and a delicious banquet Saturday evening, Dennis Starkey, SD'83 (Marietta, Georgia), NASDAD president for 2000, passed the gavel of responsibility to Larry Dunford, SD'82, PG'83, from Fort Myers, Florida. Three members inducted into Lifetime Membership were Loel (Sonni) Wurl, SD'62, from Atlanta; Franklin Ordelheide (Oakdale, California); and Nantje Twijnstra, PG'74 (Phuket, Thailand). James Crawford, SD'60; MPH, executive associate dean, School of Dentistry, and dental director for the health ministry department, General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, will present Dr. Twijnstra's Life Member key to her in person when he visits Phuket in November.
