receives Delta Dental Student Leadership Award

The state’s largest dental plan recently presented a $2,500 student leadership award to Christopher Blount, SD’02.

Each year, Delta Dental Plan of California presents The Delta Dental Student Leadership Award to five graduating dental students who demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities. In addition to the cash award, each student receives a certificate of recognition. The awards this year were presented by Marilynn G. Belek, DMD, Delta’s chief dental officer and senior vice president of Professional Services.

Delta established the Student Leadership Award in 1977 in honor of Dr. F. Gene Dixon, the corporation’s first chief executive officer. Dixon was instrumental in developing the Delta Dental Plan Association, a national system of dental plans that now covers more than 42 million Americans.
