Faculty notes   Academic appointment The Loma Linda University Board of Trustees, meeting in August, approved the academic administrative appointment of Suzanne U. McCormick, DDS, as chair, department of oral and maxillofacial surgery.   Restorative dentistry Madelyn Fletcher, DDS (SD'00) has joined the department of restorative dentistry on a full-time basis starting fall quarter. The department welcomes her expertise.   Myron (Mike) Winer, DDS, will be joining the department of restorative dentistry as a part-time faculty member. Dr. Winer is a prosthodontist who has been a faculty member at University of Illinois (UI), Chicago, since 1970. While at UI, he taught in the department of restorative dentistry and also served as director of continuing education. He recently moved to the Palm desert area, and joins the department this fall quarter. We welcome Dr. Winer.     Adjunct faculty Frank Cortez-Flores, PhD, DDS, MS, MA, MPH, department of dental educational services, recently be came a member of the Supercourse faculty, part of Disease Monitoring and Telecommunications, World Health Organization Collaborating Center, department of epidemiology, Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh. The Supercourse is an Internet-based distance learning resource for health-related students who are studying epidemiology, global health, and the Internet. Dr. Cortez-Flores will contribute to the Supercourse as a reviewer, lecture developer, and translator.
