in the School of Dentistry

Dentists from Yerevan, Armenia, gather with Dr. Farshin Farakhian, IDP’03 (far left) in the IDP clinic where they observed LLU clinical training methods. They have been selected as core faculty for the new Armenian Family Residency Program.

Seven Armenian dentists visited the Loma Linda campus for five weeks. They are dentists interviewed and selected by Drs. Heisler, IDP (SD ’59) and Gary Kevorkian (SD ’86, MS’90) to be the core faculty for the Armenian Family Dentistry Residency in Yerevan, Armenia.

The purpose of their visit at this time is to gain experience in teaching clinical dentistry and to gather teaching materials. The program has recently been approved by the Armenian National Institute of Health, with approval by the Armenian Minister of Health expected pending review of the curriculum.

Tegran Avetisyan and Diana Ter-Grigoryan, seated (center), orthodontic residents from Armenia, sit in on a lecture given by Joseph Caruso, SD’73, MS’75, director, orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. The lecture was being given to first-year LLU orthodontic residents.
