Dental computing services personnel have reported that staff are asking for help on personal computer issues such as online banking, online music, and accessing personal web pages.
This is an inappropriate use of the School of Dentistry computers and networks.
Please note the following policy. All faculty, staff, and students are expected to adhere to this policy, including paragraph four, which forbids non-educational use of the computers.
Computer Use Policies for Loma Linda University School of Dentistry Computers and Networks
School of Dentistry faculty, staff, and student use of Loma Linda University-owned computers and networks may be subject to administrative audit.
All computer users are also subject to all state and federal regulations regarding computer abuse, fraud, and e-mail abuse.
It is unethical for all computer users or employees to seek to gain privileged access or access to any computer or computer user's account not assigned to them.
Use of LLU computer systems for commercial uses or non-education, except by approval, is strictly prohibited.
Use of any LLU computer system to send nuisance messages such as chain letters and obscene or harassing messages, or view, store, or transfer information which contains obscene, indecent, lewd, pornographic or sexually harassing material is forbidden.
Unauthorized copying of software is a form of theft and is illegal. The illegal copying or pirating of software is forbidden. This applies to all software on all University-owned computers and personal equipment, whether connected to the Internet or not.
Any user who becomes aware of unethical or forbidden use of LLU computer resources, including receipt of obscene or harassing messages, is required to notify the systems administrator for their local work area, or the dean of the School or the vice president for academic affairs.
