| DSA does BBQ:
by Rob Wells, SD'01 The evening breeze was softly blowing, the sun was beginning to set, gnats were pestering faces, and the music of Chris Rice set the mood, as "Sheriff Blank and his Posse" flipped the Boca Burgers. The Dental Student Association (DSA) Summer Barbecue had begun. On August 20, approximately 150 students, faculty, and their families spread their blankets on the lawn to enjoy the evening festivities, which included food, fellowship, and the sundown devotional. DSA officers working with the individual class chaplains and Dr. Fred Kasischke, hosted the event.
Floyd Hansen, SD'80, PG'81, says that he thought it was a wonderful way to spend "Friday evening, food and fellowship with friends and students outside the normal dental setting." "It was a great way to end a hectic week and start the weekend," says James Mularczyk, SD'01. "I really enjoyed hearing the faculty share their thoughts, and eating and relaxing with friends," says Shelly Withers, DH'00. And Shelton Hsu, SD'00, says, "It was great to see the great turnout of students, and support from faculty for this event. We hope that everyone will continue to participate in this year's activities." A great time was had by all. If you missed the Summer Barbecue, never fear -- there is more fun to come this year.
