Ultradent Products, Inc. hosted a seminar for dental educators on Sunday and Monday, August 8 - 9, 1999 at the corporate headquarters near Salt Lake City, Utah. These dates were set especially for Loma Linda University participants, since Ultradent normally holds these seminars on Friday and Saturday. Approximately 80 people attended from around the world.

Ultradent was founded by Dan Fischer, a 1974 alumnus of the School of Dentistry. Dr. Fischer is president and chief executive officer of the multimillion dollar company.

This seminar was paid for entirely by Ultradent (they do the same for many other groups), including travel, lodging, and meals. They have a very nice facility for presenting seminars and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

The emphasis of the seminar was to present ideas for the future of restorative dental treatment, noting particularly the concepts of conservation and preservation of tooth structure, tissue management, bleaching, and products and concepts for aesthetic dental treatments.

The LLUSD participants reported that they enjoyed this well-prepared and organized event.

Crown patients needed

The Center for Dental Research is conducting an Artglass single crown study.
I am requesting your assistance in helping us locate approximately 30-35 patients for a six-month study. It is our goal to have the patients enrolled and the crowns placed by the close of summer quarter 1999.
1. We are looking for single crowns in the posterior region.
2. We can enroll the patient with a maximum of 2 crowns.
3. The patient will receive a $100 reduction off the cost of each regular crown.
I would encourage faculty, students & staff participation. I trust you will assist the Center for Dental Research in the enrollment process for our present and soon too be future studies.
Should you have any questions, I can be reached at (909) 558-4000 x83542 or (909) 558-0656.
I look forward to working with you in the near future.
Alisa Wilson, RDA, OSA, Clinical Research Coordinator, Center for Dental Research
