* Welcome to Paul Chambers, new staff member in dental maintenance. Paul and his wife Melody
Paul Chambers
Paul Chambers
moved here from Berrien Springs, Michigan, where he spent 26 years working for Andrews University in College Wood Products, plant services, and purchasing. Before that, Paul was a general contractor for eight years.

* Marian Wood says, "My husband and I wish to thank all the dental school family for all the support, prayers and hugs during our walk through his surgery and the time leading up to it. It is so good to know that we have that kind of support and prayers. It was a great help to us. He is doing very well and is already experiencing cabin fever, which is a good sign. The potted plant (which has been put in our flower bed) and arrangement were reminders of the warmth and love we have received. Thanks so much."

Educational Support Services
Richard Cross, photographic coordinator, recently completed a course in Adobe After Effects, a video special effects class, at UCR. He has used his skills already, in video projects for School of Dentistry professors. Don Beglau, SD'62, associate professor of restorative dentistry, and Richard just finished a video on basic gold casting for sophomore dental students.

Endodontics
LLU endodontic lecturer receives prestigious award
During the 56th Annual Session of the American Association of Endodontics (AAE), held April 21 - 25 in Atlanta, John Ingle, DDS, MSD, of San Diego, was awarded the Edgar D. Coolidge Award.

Endodontists
Colleagues congratulate Dr. John Ingle (seated, right) on his AAE award. Helping Dr. Ingle celebrate his well deserved award were his wife, Joyce, seated with him, and standing from left to right: Drs. Dudley Glick, Richard Burns, Leif K. Bakland, and Alfred Frank (recently retired voluntary faculty member in the department of endodontics).
The Coolidge Award is presented to an AAE member who has actively participated in the AAE during his or her professional life, displaying outstanding leadership and exemplary dedication to dentistry and endodontics.

A U.S. Army Corps dentist during World War II and a former dean of the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, Dr. Ingle started his teaching career at the University of Washington where he was professor and chairman of endodontics and periodontics. Following his tenure at USC, he joined the staff of the Institute of Medicine at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC. Dr. Ingle ėretired' in 1978 and developed Palm Springs Seminars, Inc. As president of PSSI for 12 years, he presented over 25 continuing education courses each year in all branches of dentistry, educating more than 15,000 dentists. He has lectured on every continent except Antarctica.

Dr. Ingle has also served as a senior lecturer at Loma Linda University and UCLA. He authored Endodontics [with Leif K. Bakland, SD'63, professor and chair of endodontics at LLUSD], an authorative text on the subject and has written over 75 papers on dentistry and education.

A previous recipient of the AAE Ralph F. Sommer Research Award, Dr. Ingle has also been honored by Alpha Omega Fraternity with its prestigious Achievement Award, by Northwestern University's Award of Merit and by University of Southern California, where the John Ingle Award in Basic Science will be granted annually. Dr. Ingle, the 1966 - 1967 AAE president, spent many years on the AAE Board of Directors, and was a founding member of the American Board of Endodontics.

Dr. Ingle earned his DDS from Northwestern University School of Dentistry in 1942, and in 1948 he received his MSD from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He and his wife, Joyce, have three children.
