ANES 746 General Anesthesia (Section II) 9 units
Administration of general anesthesia and regional block anesthesia to a variety of medical and dental patients in the operating room, under the supervision of attending anesthesiologists. A minimum of 270 clock hours per quarter (8 quarters) required to fulfill total units.
GRDN 514 Introduction to Biomedical Research 4 units
Provides basic information necessary to develop a research proposal. Focuses on applied statistics, as well as proposal writing--which emphasizes critical evaluation of the literature, proposal design, and proposal methodology. Culminates in an approved research proposal suitable for submission to the department Research Guidance Committee (RGC). Courses consists of lectures and seminars.
GRDN 609 Professional Ethics 2 units
Provides students with a theological and philosophical framework for professional ethics. Topics include individual rights, autonomy, informed consent, and the responsibilities of the professional person in the dental field, as well as in society as a whole.

GRDN 622 Biomedical Sciences II (Part 1 and Part 2) 4 units
Advanced, two-quarter course offered every other year (alternating with GRDN 623) during Autumn and Winter Quarters. Course content includes applied oral bacteriology, immunology, topics in oral medicine, applied pharmacology, TMD, and orofacial pain. Since the course is constructed on an advanced level of understanding students are expected to have prior basic knowledge in the various topic areas.
GRDN 623 Biomedical Sciences II (Part 1 and Part 2) 4 units
Advanced, two-quarter course offered every other year (alternating with GRDN 622) during Autumn and Winter Quarters. Course content includes cell biology, applied oral pathology, biology of hard tissues, physiology, and biochemistry. Since the course is constructed on an advanced level of understanding students are expected to have prior basic knowledge in the various topic areas.
GRDN 632 Basic Microsurgery Technique 2 units
An integrated four-hour laboratory course tailored to the needs of the individual student. Principles and application of microscope operator and use, microinstrumentation, microdissection, micromanipulation, and microsuturing techniques. Performance of various microvascular and microneural repair procedures.

Implant patient treatment presentations, discussion of alternate methods of rehabilitation, and related literature. Repeated registrations are required to fulfill the total units.
IMPD 533 Applied Radiology for Implant Dentistry 1.5 units
The course is designed to give the postdoctoral student fundamental aspects of radiology imaging as part of the diagnosis and treatment. Course content includes in-depth level of instruction in the most commonly used dental implant simulation software.

IMPD 585 Implant Prosthodontics 10 units
The course is designed to give the graduate student in implant dentistry in depth didactic and clinical instruction on techniques and procedures related to the rehabilitation of patients with prosthodontic devices supported by dental implants. Advanced clinical and laboratory procedures with emphasis in implant restorations for completely and partially edentulous patients. Special emphasis on attachments and superstructure design. This course will provide the resident with the knowledge and techniques of advanced prosthodontic and implant procedures; notable those involved in sinus graft surgery, surgical repairs of implant defects, and the principles involved in immediate loading of implants.

IMPD 726 Clinical Practice of Periodontics in Implant Dentistry 4 units
Clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal diseases. A minimum of 60 clock hours per quarter (2qtrs) are required to fulfill the total units of 4.
IMPD 727 Clinical Practice of Prosthodontics in Implant Dentistry 20 units
Advanced clinical practice in the treatment of individuals with fixed, removable, maxillofacial and implant prostheses. A minimum of 60 clock hours per quarter (10qtrs) are required to fulfill the total units of 20.
OMFS 604 Selected Topics in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery 12 units
A weekly seminar covering selected topics in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. A rotating two-year schedule of topics are covered. Following a lecture on these topics, recent representational clinical cases are presented and used as the basis for review and discussion, enhancing knowledge base and critical thinking. A monthly Grand Rounds is given by respected guest speakers who are considered experts in their respective fields, covering current topics in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and practice management. Repeated registrations are required to fulfill the total units.
OMFS 606 Applied Surgical Anatomy 1 unit
Designed to enable the resident to master the anatomic principles involved in clinical diagnosis and in assessing clinical problem areas encountered in various health care delivery situations. Detailed discussion of applied anatomic consequences of various surgical and treatment procedures and the anatomic aspects of emergencies occurring in practice are discussed in detail including cadaveric dissection. Emphasis is placed upon knowledge of the vascular supply and neuroinnervation of the structures of the oral cavity and adjacent areas of the head and neck. The application of this material is discussed in terms of actual clinical case presentations.
PROS 500 Prosthodontic Literature Review 24 units
Discussion of assigned topics from classic and current prosthodontic and related literature, led by students and moderated by faculty member in charge. Repeated registrations are required to fulfill the total units.
PROS 546 Occlusion and Morphology 2 units
Lecture, seminar and laboratory course which will include waxing techniques and axial and occlusal morphology of natural teeth. Concepts of occlusal function and dysfunction will be related to prosthodontic therapy.

Continuation of PROS 546, with emphasis on occlusal equilibration, jaw movements, determinants of occlusion and articulators commonly used.

Lecture, seminar and laboratory course covering principles, concepts and techniques used to design and fabricate removable partial dentures.
