Annual Fund Gold Campaign to celebrate School's 50th year

The School of Dentistry Alumni Association has launched
its Annual Fund Gold Campaign in celebration of the School’s 50 years—its
“golden anniversary,” in 2003. The three-year campaign features
a special challenge grant from the Loma Linda University Dental Group,
Inc.
“This year alumni who make three-year pledges of $300 or more annually
will qualify for additional challenge dollars,” explains W. Eugene
Rathbun, SD’65, Century Club vice president. “For example, a
commitment of $1,000 each year for three years will generate an additional
$1,000 for the campaign. This is a tremendous opportunity to do something
very significant for the Annual Fund.”
Donors who give at the $1,500 level for three years will not only qualify
for membership in the Dean’s Circle, but they will stimulate a special
challenge grant of $2,000.
The Annual Fund supports important projects for the students and the School.
These include student mission trips, the new addition to Prince Hall,
personalized Bibles for incoming students, young faculty recruitment assistance,
student research projects, and Alumni Office expenses.
“Each year we have more requests for funding than we have monies
available,” notes Daniel Kunihira, SD’74, Alumni Association
president. “There is so much more we could do, and we know our alumni
will want to respond generously in order to take advantage of the challenge
grant this year.”
The campaign will run in 2001–02; 2002–03; and will conclude
in 2003–04. Only gifts designated for the Annual Fund for all three
years will qualify for the challenge dollars.
